The Purger Postcard Collection

Albania in 1914 – 1918

The German printing house Purger & Co., which was active from 1899 to 1920, produced early coloured postcards of many countries of Europe and the Mediterranean basin, including Albania. The cards were printed in three-colour chromolithography and were numbered, which enables us to determine the approximate date of most of the cards. This collection of 42 postcards of Albania, certainly not complete, dates from 1914-1918. It was made available to the public here with the kind assistance of Jochen Blanken from Hamburg.

Albanien im Jahre 1914 – 1918

Das Münchner Verlagshaus Purger & Co war in den Jahren 1899-1920 aktiv und stellte farbige Ansichtskarten von vielen Ländern Europas und des Mittelmeerraumes, unter anderem auch Albanien, her. Die Karten wurden in einem chromolithographischen Verfahren mit drei Farben gefertigt und nummeriert, wobei die Nummerierung eine ungefähre Datierung der verschiedenen Ansichten ermöglicht. Die hier vorgestellte Sammlung von 42 frühen Ansichtskarten Albaniens - sicherlich nicht vollständig - stammt aus den Jahren 1914-1918. Sie wurde mit der freundlichen Genehmigung des aus Hamburg stammenden Jochen Blanken, der schon seit langem mit Albanien verbunden ist, zur Verfügung gestellt.

Shqipëria në vitin 1914 – 1918

Shtypshkronja gjermane Purger & Co, me seli në Mynih, ishte aktive mes viteve 1899-1920. U bë e njohur për kartolina të hershme me ngjyra të shumë vendeve të Evropës dhe të Mesdheut, përfshirë edhe Shqipërisë. Kartolinat u shtypën me anë të një procesi hromolitografik me tri ngjyra dhe ishin të numeruara, gjë që na ndihmon të saktojmë datat e tyre përafërsisht. Ky koleksion prej 42 kartolinash të hershme të Shqipërisë, sigurisht jo i plotë, vjen nga vitet 1914-1918. I jemi mirënjohës mikut të vjetër të Shqipërisë, Zoti Johen Blanken nga Hamburgu për dhënien në dispozicion të këtij koleksioni.
